A refreshed Muppet Show bursting with music, mayhem, and Sabrina Carpenter’s standout guest performance.

LOS ANGELES — Feb. 2, 2026 — Turn your television volume up and get ready to laugh, sing, and fall in love all over again. Will and I kicked off our weekend with a special invite screening of the brand‑new Muppet Show revival — and if this first look is any indication, we’re calling it now: this is the talk‑show event of the year.

The Muppets are officially back, and they’re returning with the kind of star power, nostalgia, and musical flair that only this iconic troupe can deliver. On Saturday evening, executive producer and guest star Seth Rogen joined Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the full Muppet ensemble at The Hollywood Roosevelt for an intimate celebration marking the highly anticipated return of The Muppet Show.

The event drew an eclectic mix of Hollywood favorites and Muppet legends — Anna Kendrick, Lainey Wilson, Pamela Adlon, Danny Trejo, Yvette Nicole Brown, Dewayne Perkins, Sam Richardson, Camila, The Great Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, and Rowlf the Dog — all gathering to honor the show’s legacy and toast its new chapter.

And if the screening proved anything, it’s that the Muppets still know exactly how to put on a show.

The revival features Sabrina Carpenter as the special guest star, and she delivers a performance that instantly becomes the night’s standout. Fresh off her show‑stopping GRAMMYs appearance, Carpenter brings that same theatrical, high‑gloss energy to the Muppet Theatre — blending pop spectacle with classic Muppet chaos in a way that feels both nostalgic and brand‑new.

Her number, staged with the precision and playfulness that define her live performances, pushes the Muppets into a new era of variety‑show entertainment. It’s bold, funny, musically sharp, and unmistakably Sabrina — a perfect fusion of modern pop culture and timeless Muppet charm.

The screening made one thing clear: this revival honors the original Muppet Show while elevating it for a new generation. The format — part talk show, part musical showcase, part joyful chaos — remains intact, but the execution feels refreshed, cinematic, and rhythmically in tune with today’s entertainment landscape.

Sabrina’s performance, in particular, redefines what a Muppet musical moment can look like. It’s the kind of segment fans will replay, quote, and celebrate — proof that the Muppets continue to evolve without losing their heart.

The return of The Muppet Show arrives at a milestone moment: the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Created by Jim Henson, the original series ran from 1976 to 1981, airing in more than 100 countries and featuring legendary guest stars such as Elton John, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, Gladys Knight, Liza Minnelli, and Paul Simon.

During its run, the show earned Emmy, GRAMMY, Peabody, and BAFTA awards, and was famously described by Time magazine in 1978 as “the most popular television entertainment now being produced on Earth.”

Today, all five seasons of the original series are available on Disney+, allowing longtime fans and new audiences to revisit the magic that shaped generations.

The new special event is produced by 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures. Directed and executive‑produced by Alex Timbers, the project brings together a powerhouse creative team including Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Sabrina Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson.

Veteran Muppet performers — including Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel — bring the beloved characters to life. Goelz, who has been with the Muppets for over 50 years and originated Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, continues to anchor the ensemble with unmatched legacy and heart.

After screening the special, one thing is certain: The Muppet Show is returning with its spirit fully intact — joyful, chaotic, heartfelt, and endlessly entertaining. Sabrina Carpenter’s GRAMMY‑style performance injects fresh electricity into the format, proving that the Muppets are not just back… they’re evolving.

The Muppet Show premieres Feb. 4 on Disney+ (12:00am PT / 3:00am ET) and ABC (9:00pm ET/PT). And if this screening was any indication, fans are in for a wildly fun ride.
