Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman unveil the contenders across 24 categories in a global live announcement.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Awards season always feels like our Super Bowl, and this morning’s nominations announcement officially kicked the excitement into high gear. As the sun was barely rising over Los Angeles, Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman took the stage at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater to reveal the nominees for the 98th Oscars—live to viewers around the world. From breakout performances to long‑awaited returns, this year’s list is packed with artistry, surprises, and the kind of storytelling that reminds us why we fell in love with movies in the first place.

The nominees were unveiled in two waves, beginning at 5:30 a.m. PT, with the remaining categories following at 5:41 a.m. PT. As always, the selections reflect the work of Academy members across all 19 branches—actors nominate actors, designers nominate designers, and so on. Categories such as Animated Feature, International Feature, and the Short Films are chosen by members from all branches who opt in and meet the viewing requirements, while every active Academy member is eligible to vote for Best Picture.

This year’s ceremony will honor winners across 24 categories, each with five nominees—except Best Picture, which features a slate of 10. To participate in final voting, Academy members must view all nominated films, ensuring each category is judged on a level playing field. Final voting opens February 26 and closes March 5, with all ballots submitted securely online and tabulated by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The 98th Oscars will be held Sunday, March 15, 2026, live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The ceremony will air on ABC, stream on Hulu, and broadcast to more than 200 territories worldwide.

As we count down to Hollywood’s biggest night, we’re celebrating every nominee who poured heart, grit, and imagination into their work this year. The road to the Oscars is officially underway, and we’ll be covering every moment leading up to the ceremony on March 15. Whether you’re cheering for the underdogs, the powerhouses, or the films that stole your heart, we’re right there with you—popcorn in hand, ready for the magic to unfold.
