December 16, 2025 — Hold onto your spatulas, folks! No, that rumble on Hollywood Boulevard isn’t an earthquake — it’s the famous residents of Bikini Bottom making waves on dry land. Today, everyone’s favorite fry cook traded jelly fishing nets for red‑carpet glamour as SpongeBob SquarePants left his official sponge prints in the legendary concrete of the TCL Chinese Theatre. That’s right: the little yellow sponge from under the sea is now forever part of Hollywood history.

Chris and Will can report…many rewritten sentences later…that Hollywood Boulevard is currently experiencing what officials are calling “a full‑scale sponge situation.” SpongeBob SquarePants arrived to leave his sponge prints at the TCL Chinese Theatre, and the scene escalated into absolute, glorious chaos.

Perch Perkins arrived on the scene to bring the surface news to Bikini Bottom, but Patrick Star immediately wandered into frame holding a churro and shouting, “LOOK, I’M A MICROPHONE!” before eating the churro and the actual microphone.

Squidward, who insists he was “dragged here against his will,” has filed three complaints, two noise violations, and one request for a personal spotlight.

Meanwhile, Sandy Cheeks is giving a TED Talk on the sidewalk titled “Why Y’all Shouldn’t Let a Sponge Near Wet Cement.” No one is listening because SpongeBob is currently blowing bubbles shaped like famous celebrities, and one of them is chasing a tourist.

When the moment finally came to place his prints, SpongeBob approached the wet cement with confidence. In true SpongeBob fashion, SpongeBob tripped, bounced, giggled, apologized to the cement, apologized to the air, apologized to a traffic cone, and still managed to leave the most perfectly adorable sponge prints Hollywood has ever seen. The crowd erupted. A bubble storm broke out. Someone shouted, “I love you, cheese man!” It was unclear who they meant.

And all of this is happening to celebrate SpongeBob’s next big adventure: The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, splashing into theatres and in 3D on December 19, 2025. Directed by Derek Drymon, the film follows SpongeBob as he tries to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by chasing the Flying Dutchman — who, according to eyewitnesses, briefly appeared at the ceremony to yell, “WHO TOOK MY PARKING SPOT?”

Since its 1999 debut, SpongeBob SquarePants has grown from a quirky animated series into a global phenomenon. Created by marine biologist‑turned‑animator Stephen Hillenburg, the show introduced the world to a relentlessly optimistic sponge, a town full of unforgettable characters, and a comedic universe built on slapstick, surrealism, and pure heart. Over the years, the franchise has expanded into films, theme park attractions, merchandise, and a multigenerational fanbase that continues to grow.

The film features a powerhouse creative team, including producers Lisa Stewart, Pam Brady, and Aaron Dem, with executive producers Marc Ceccarelli, Vincent Waller, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary. The voice cast brings together franchise favorites Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence, alongside new star power from George Lopez, Ice Spice, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, Regina Hall, and Mark Hamill.

Rated PG for rude humor, mild language, and thematic elements, Search for SquarePants promises a holiday season spectacle filled with comedy, heart, and the kind of undersea chaos only SpongeBob can deliver.

And now, with his sponge prints officially set in Hollywood concrete, SpongeBob SquarePants stands tall — well, sponge‑height tall — as a true entertainment legend. From Bikini Bottom to the Walk of Fame, this holiday season proves that the world’s most beloved sea sponge is making history on both land and sea.

THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SEARCH FOR SQUAREPANTS hits theatres December 19th.
