I remember back when I was waiting for a holiday cartoon version of the many stories of Charlie Brown and friends. I don’t know about you, but “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is one of the holiday movies that you just must see year after year. Many of Charlie Brown's stories focus on the lives of friends growing up in the world. It touches your heart and, in many ways, makes you think. It’s cute and appealing.
Minimal Spoiler Alert AppleTV+ has introduced a brand-new story for the summer. A story that takes you back to the days of summer camp. If you have ever gone to some type of summer camp, I’m sure you can remember some sort of memories that included fun and friendship. From the moment you heard about camp to when you showed up at camp, and more importantly, the moment you had to leave camp; you met new friends, returned with old friends, and you talked about the things you did, plus the things that either got you in trouble or the things that almost got you in trouble. “Snoopy Presents: A Summer Celebration” premieres on August 15, 2025, on AppleTV+.
Chris and Will got the chance to watch this epic adventure days before its release. The 40-minute special features ear-catching original music by Emmy Award-nominated composer Jeff Morrow and Emmy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, composer, and New York Times bestselling author Ben Folds, debuting as the first Peanuts musical in several decades (35 years).
“Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical” is a musical special about the joy and magic of summer camp and the importance of preserving what you love. Charlie Brown loves camp and is determined to make his final year special, but Sally, a first-time camper, is nervous and skeptical of the new and unfamiliar place. While everyone settles into camp, Snoopy and Woodstock discover a treasure map that takes them on a wild adventure nearby.
One morning, the Peanuts gang learns that their beloved camp is shutting down because there are fewer campers joining each summer. The news especially saddens Charlie Brown, who feels hopeless about losing a place that has meant so much to him and his friends and is determined to preserve its legacy. Meanwhile, on their adventure, Snoopy and Woodstock find the sought-after treasure chest, but are quickly disappointed when they discover it’s not riches, but instruments and photos from past summer concerts held at the camp. Newly inspired, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang use the treasure to host their own concert to save the camp.
Big brother Charlie Brown is proud of sharing his camp memories with Sally. At first, Sally wasn’t too pleased about roughing it in the woods without having access to a television. Sally changes her tune when she discovers Charlie’s beloved camp is closing and how much it meant to her big brother. She must save it. Snoopy goes searching and finds the “X” that marks the spot treasure chest. To his surprise, it isn’t the gold that he was dreaming about, but what he found was a time capsule that could possibly bring more kids to the camp. The idea of a festival showing off the wonders of camp is set and ready for everyone to visit. But wait, what could go wrong? Ugh!! It starts raining, and their hope is almost gone, but the show must go on. The show does go on, and the sun makes its way through the clouds. What happens next, you ask? Well…you must watch the special to find out.
This story is surrounded by heartfelt songs and with one of the best stories written in a cartoon. As one of the songs says, “Leave it Better,” you will leave this special place much better than when you came into it. I wonder what your favorite moment will be. What song keeps you singing, even after the credits? Will and I loved it, couldn’t stop discussing it for days. It brought us into a mountain of memories. This opportunity was well appreciated and has us wanting to watch it again. We just needed our Snoopy plush to reminisce on how special the Peanuts’ gang really is to us and you.
